Hot Summer Months Favourites!

My absence was inexcusable! As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been super busy with the Beauty Blogger award. I read and comment under every single post which have been submitted so far and I am over the moon with the feedback from all of you fellow beauty bloggers🙂 Thank you so much for your support and kind words, I am so happy to get the chance to know all of you lovely people better x

In this post I will be sharing some of my top picks for the hot summer months. I didn’t have a particular theme in mind (makeup, skincare, haircare etc) when I was picking out the products so you will see a mix of favorites, basically! Let’s get it started!!

Product 1: Garnier Ultimate Blends Dry Shampoo for Mid to Long Hair.

I was resigned to the fact that I’d never be able to find the perfect dry shampoo, ever😦 Why? Because I have dark hair and most dry shampoos leave very unattractive white patches on my scalp and hair even though the packaging says ‘leaves no residue’. They clearly lied to me *I’m looking at you, Batiste!* I haven’t had much luck with dry shampoos in general until a few weeks ago when I was shopping at Penneys (Primark), I saw the Garnier one for €2 and I thought ‘why not, lets give it a go’. Penneys started selling random beauty products at the queue line, good for them but bad for me because I always end up throwing more stuff into my basket!

At last, I found a dry shampoo which works beautifully on my dark hair! After spraying it a few times close to my roots, I checked frantically and found no residue at all. Another major plus, it smells divine! I’m a sucker for vanilla scents and I love catching random whifs of this throughout the day. It gives subtle volume which my long locks really need!

I like using this product on the second day hair. I prefer not to wash my hair everyday as the ends are a bit dry. If you have dark, long hair and you’re on a lookout for a new dry shampoo, this one is definitely for you! Strongly recommended🙂

Product 2: Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you’ve definitely heard of this multifunctional palette from UD. It is definitely a cult product for all beauty lovers and I am no exception. What is there not to love, bronzer, highlighter and blush all in one compact! I got this palette last year and I’ve been finding it hard to use any other bronzers/blushers/highlighters due to its versatility and quality.

The bronzer is in a beautiful medium shade which works well for both light and medium skin tones as well as pink and yellow undertones. It gives a sheer veil of bronze goodness which evens out the skin and it is definitely buildable. The highlighter is in a pearly-pink shade and it is simply a gorgeous highlighter! I detest highlighting products with massive chunks of glitter which makes my face look like a disco ball and this highlighter has a pearl sheen with no visible glitter particles so yay from me! I usually put a light dust of this on top of my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose. The blush is also a gorgeous one. The shade of this blush is mauve-pink which compliments many skin tones as well as undertones. It is pigmented enough to give you that healthy, glowing-from-within flushed look which I favor for daytime makeup.

I really like the big, rectangular mirror which is also included inside this palette. Makes touch-ups throughout the day so much easier!

As you can see, mine is well loved! Overall, this is a great product and it is definitely one of my must haves. If you don’t have one in your makeup collection, you’re missing out…go get one now!😉

3. EOS Lipbalm in Honeysuckle

For those of you living in the US, EOS lip balms are old news! For me who lives in Ireland, these lip balms are elusive creatures. Yes, currently they are not sold in Ireland (as far as I know) and they cost twice, even triple the original price online. I got mine from Sasa Hong Kong and the only regret I have is I did not get more! Why oh why did I not get 10 of these because I love them! This is the first ever lip balm I’ve used which is not sticky and does not taste weird. It smells amazing but not overwhelming (faint honeysuckle scent) and it tastes a bit sweet (non-artifical sweetness kinda way). I leave this on my bedside table and I apply it before I go to sleep. My lips feel moisturized and silky the morning after🙂

One minus point about this product is its bulky packaging! You really cannot get away walking around with one of these in your jeans pocket, it would look too weird! It is not really travel friendly as it takes up a lot of space inside my makeup bag, that’s why I keep it on my bedside table and only use it at night. But beside the bulky packaging, I have no other complaints!

4. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation.

I have reviewed this product in great detail here if you want to check it out. I just had to give it another mention because this foundation is that good! Basically it is an amazing foundation which will give you the natural and effortless non-makeup look! Light to medium buildable coverage and it has SPF 15 which is always a plus for a summer foundation.

Minus point for the price tag…it costs just below €50 for a 30ml bottle, ouch!

5. Urbad Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Of course we all tend to sweat more during hot summer months and despite this, we want our makeup to look fresh all day during work/running errands/chillin with friends! You don’t want half of your makeup end up on tissue/blotting paper towards the end of the day, right? One product that can help to keep your makeup fresh as a daisy all day is a setting spray. Skindinavia has partnered with UD to create a range of makeup setting sprays which cater to all skin types’ needs (oily, dry and normal skin) and also various finishes (dewy and matte finish). I chose the All Nighter one as I don’t have any major skin concerns. The makeup consultant at the UD counter recommended this one in particular to keep the makeup stay put during long working hours in hot and humid conditions.

These sprays have been on the market for a while and I think they have new packagings currently (mine is the old one). I quickly spritz this twice/three times onto my face as the last step in my makeup routine and it really does help to set my makeup and prevent it from sliding off my face throughout the day. I also spray this throughout the day to freshen up, it has a nice cooling sensation on the skin!

That sums up my top picks for this post, thank you all for staying with me and reading til the end! Hope you’re all having a fantastic and fun summer❤ Let me know in the comment section what products you are loving currently, maybe you have some recommendations which I should know about🙂

Lots of love,

Cecilia x

  1. Great post, Cecilia! You might as well wanna try out the mint flavored eos lipbalm, that’s literally the best. I started using these lipbalms whilst my stay in the US, and everything you wrote down is so so true about them. The best lipbalms ever, I actually just ran out of it too, although I brought home like 5 of them hahaha. Gotta try and put my hands on some more again.🙂
    Netti xoxo

    • I really do love these lip balms, Netti! They are really good, I wish they’ll make their way into the European market soon! What other flavours would you recommend? The mint one sounds lovely🙂

      • The mint one is really good cuz when you apply it, it makes your mouth tingle in like a good way hahaha. I also tried the summer fruit, the strawberry sorbet and the pomegranade-rapsberry flavors, but the mint one is definitely my fave😀

      • That sounds amazing! I must get that one and also the other flavours you have mentioned🙂 thank you so much for the recommendation x

      • No problem xoxo

  2. Very informative post!Dry shampoo comes in handy now and again. Was wondering what is the Chanel foundation like?Is it as good or better than the Mac one?I was thinking of changing mine😃

    • Thank you so much for reading and commenting! It is a brilliant foundation, gives a very natural finish. Personally I don’t use MAC foundations that often because most of them are heavy. If you are looking for a light foundation then I’d definitely recommend the Chanel one x

      • You should definitely try it, you will love it x

  3. I’m definitely checking out that dry shampoo – I’ve been hunting for a decent one for ages. My hair does the same thing, gets dry on the ends, but my roots need a little spritz of something for me to keep going! EOS is a life saver. But you’re absolutely right…not practical for the jeans pocket…

    • It is such an amazing dry shampoo, definitely give it a go! I really do like EOS lip balms, hoping to get more soon🙂 thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts x
